What are the ways to gain admission without JAMB?
Admission boards in the country alongside university commission have created for Nigerian students alternatives to securing admission to their school of choice, aside from the Joint Admission Matriculations Board JAMB. But a lot of students do not take this opportunity as they waste time to rewrite JAMB next year.
Let’s do the math together. Over 1.7million students sit to write JAMB every year and less than 1million students will be admitted. Others who do make the requisite score will anticipate next year’s JAMB. Secondary school leavers will graduate and write the exam next year to join the admission hunt.
Students who which to take second degree take another JAMB, students who did not get their desired course take another JAMB to try again. The population increases and the circle continues. Waiting, writing, waiting, writing; this keeps on recurring.
Resources, Effort And Time – Scarce Resources Students Waste
In a bid to gain admission through JAMB at all cost, and as a result of failure to explore other options and ply new route in the admission quest, students subconsciously waste a lot of resources.
In a report, the Federal Government made a profit of N7.8billion from selling JAMB examination forms to about 2million candidates. However, the whole universities in Nigeria do not have the capacity to admit over a million students. That is a lot of resources in the wrong hands.
In furtherance of the frustration that comes in with JAMB, students who get good scores still have another hurdle to cross in the admission quest. They have to write the Post UTME of the schools they chose. This is also another screening that will take less than 60% of students that apply or buy the form for the Post UTME of any school.
Now, some students tend to continue to turn blind eyes to glaring alternatives sources of seeking admission while others take their chances with different options. The difference between these two sets of students is the drive of how much students wish to truly gain admission. How much do you want it?
So, why are you wasting your time and resources when there are other ways to gain admission without Jamb? How can you not gain admission when there are JUPEB, IJMB and others!
